Certifications

Green building certifications are increasingly influencing the Australian construction industry as more homeowners, architects, and builders recognise the value of sustainable practices. These certifications not only encourage energy-efficient and eco-friendly design, construction, and operation, but also contribute to a project’s overall marketability and reputation, driving demand for responsible building practices across the sector. At Knauf, we understand the impact that our industry has on the environment and work collaboratively with our customers who look to third party certifications and programs to help meet their sustainability goals.

FAQs

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is different to a product ecolabel in that it doesn’t tell you if a product is good or bad. Instead, it provides the independent and verified data required to understand the environmental performance of Knauf Gypsum plasterboard products in your project.

Knauf Gypsum Australia has developed EPDs for our range of plasterboards as part of our commitment to provide transparency on the potential environmental impacts of its plasterboard products over their life cycle.

Using EPDs in the context of a life cycle assessment (LCA) for a whole structure or development can help enable better environmental optimization in the built environment.

Knauf EPDs may contribute to the achievement of credit points under the Green Star rating tool of the Green Building Council Australia (GBCA), the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Rating and other leading green building rating schemes.
