The thermal resistance rating, or R-value, is the measure used in the building and construction industry to determine a material's ability to resist the transfer of heat. The higher the R-Value, the better thermal resistance the product provides.

Choosing the right R-value for your home depends on a number of factors, including the Climate Zone you are located in, as defined by the National Construction Code (NCC). The NCC sets the minimum standards for new homes in Australia, including for energy efficiency. The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) requires a minimum of 7-stars rating (out of 10-stars).

Increasing the R-value of your insulation is the easiest and most cost-effective way to improve the energy performance of your home, with minimal disruption to your design.
