CODEMARK CERTIFICATION

CodeMark™ provides confidence to regulatory authorities and end-users that certified products meet the requirements of the Australian Building Code. Legislation requires building approval authorities to accept CodeMark™ certificates as evidence of compliance with the Building Code. We have selected CodeMark™ certification to provide compliant support systems that are new to the market.

BPIR Declarations

Building products that are covered by the CodeMark™ certification scheme are deemed to not be impacted by the regulation and do not require a separate BPIR document. The CodeMark™ certificate, along with associated reference documentation, provides all information outlined in the BPIR regulations, alternatively Knauf Insulation has a dedicated BPIR document for quick reference.

BRANZ APPRAISAL

BRANZ is an independent and impartial research, testing and consulting organisation that has an in-depth knowledge of the Australian Building Code. We use BRANZ Appraisals to demonstrate compliance with the Building Code requirement, AS/NZS 4859.1 thermal requirements and to demonstrate that the products are fit for use.

EUROPEAN CERTIFICATION BOARD

All glasswool products manufactured by Knauf Insulation are made of non-classified fibres (fibres that are less bio-persistent than every day dust) and are certified by EUCEB. EUCEB, European Certification Board of Mineral Wool Products - www.euceb.org, is a voluntary initiative by the mineral wool industry. It is an independent certification authority that guarantees that products are made of fibres, which comply with the exoneration criteria for carcinogenicity (Note Q) of the Regulation (EC) 1272/2008. To help user’s identify the safety of our glasswool fibres the EUCEB logo is displayed on our product packaging and/or labels.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY

Eurofins “Indoor Air Comfort” (IAC) product certification is an innovative tool to show compliance of a product with low VOC emissions. Knauf Insulation is certified as achieving a Gold Standard – this is the broadest standard available today that meets all existing criteria with regards to Indoor Air Quality.

NON-COMBUSTIBLE CERTIFICATION

Non-combustible is a defined term in the New Zealand Building Code. The compliance of a material to the New Zealand Building Code non-combustibility definition can be determined by conducting an AS 1530.1 standard combustibility test. If the material satisfies the criteria outlined in the test method the material is not deemed combustible. Knauf Insulation products have been independently tested in NATA accredited laboratories; giving end users confidence in the standard of the test and procedures.

GREENTAG LEVEL A CERTIFICATION

GreenTag™ is a third party, green building product rating and certification system putting certified products within the top end of the green product market. The certification makes it easy for designers and building owners to gain rewards under Green Star and Homestar credits system. Earthwool® glasswool is the first glasswool insulation in New Zealand to have GreenRate™ Level A certification.

Declare Recognition

Our entire Glass Mineral Wool product range has been awarded the DECLARE 'Red List Free' label.

Whether you are specifying or installing, DECLARE aims to show you that our Glass Mineral Wool range of products is insulation that you can trust. This is demonstrated in a similar way to that of food nutrition labels. The DECLARE label shows clear and transparent details such as:

To achieve the DECLARE label, we’ve gone through rigorous testing and disclosed the entire composition of our Glass Mineral Wool products down to 0.01%. Our Glass Mineral Wool range is manufactured with up to 80% recycled content and the remaining percentage composed entirely from Red List Free raw materials.

DECLARE also contributes to green building rating systems such as LEED and WELL. This means you can use Knauf Insulation Glass Mineral Wool products to deliver buildings that are proven to be healthy and good for the environment.

Through our participation in the DECLARE label scheme, architects, house builders and installers can verify their own sustainability and health and safety credentials too.

STANDARDS MALAYSIA, ILAC MRA MARK

The ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (ILAC MRA) plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of calibration, testing, medical testing, inspection services, proficiency testing programs, and reference materials. It provides the technical foundation that supports accredited conformity assessment bodies, helping to build confidence in the acceptance of their services and results worldwide. Knauf Insulation’s laboratory has demonstrated its technical competence to operate in accordance with MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (ISO/IEC 17025:2017), meaning the laboratory meets both the technical competence requirements and management system requirements that are necessary for it to consistently deliver technically valid test results and calibrations.

Earthwool® glasswool compliance with EECA

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) maintains a List of Accepted Insulation Products that may be installed under the New Zealand government’s Warmer Kiwi Homes program, and under voluntary targeted rate schemes of local councils. The process and criteria applied by EECA for assessing whether insulation products – ceiling, wall and underfloor insulation – are eligible for inclusion in EECA’s List of Accepted Insulation Products is set out in EECA’s Insulation Product Approval Policy.

New Zealand Building Code

New Zealand has a comprehensive Building Code and all building work in New Zealand must comply with its requirements. This ensures buildings are safe, healthy and durable for everyone who may use them.

The Building Code sets clear expectations of the standards buildings should meet. It covers aspects such as structural stability, fire safety, access, moisture control, durability, services and facilities, and energy efficiency.

Every material used in construction must comply with relevant clauses and this section has been designed to show the compliance of our glasswool products:

• Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1(a) not less than 50 years, and B2.3.2. Earthwool® glasswool insulation products (unfaced) will meet these requirements.

• Clause C3 PROTECTION FROM FIRE: Performance C3.7(a). Earthwool® glasswool insulation is non-combustible and will contribute to meeting this requirement.

• Clause E3 INTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E3.3.1. Earthwool® glasswool insulation products (unfaced) will contribute to meeting this requirement.

• Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1 Earthwool® glasswool insulation products (unfaced) do not present a health hazard to people.

• Clause H1 ENERGY EFFICIENCY: Performance H1.3.1(a) and H1.3.2E. Earthwool® glasswool insulation products (unfaced) will contribute to meeting these requirements.
