3. INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS

In the Samsung Bac Ninh expansion project, Knauf affirmed its pioneering role as the first manufacturer to successfully apply the gypsum board that meets the R60 fire-resistant test standard for the industrial factory model.

With a global reputation and more than 90 years of experience in the lightweight material manufacturing industry, Knauf was trusted as a drywall supplier for this project. Balancing performance with human health, Knauf’s solution provides fire resistance while being free of toxic compounds, helping protect the health of employees working at the factory. In terms of technical consultancy, Knauf Vietnam team worked closely with the design consultancy and Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology (IBST) develop a test plan for applying fire-resistant gypsum encasement to beams and columns, ensuring compliance with fire safety acceptance requirements.

The solution includes: the Suprawall 150 partition framing system combined with 12.7 mm FireShield fire-resistant gypsum boards used as drywall to subdivide areas within the factory and limit the spread of fire in the event of an unexpected incident. For particularly critical, load-bearing elements such as beams and columns, FireShield fire-resistant gypsum boards in thicknesses of 12.7 mm and 15.9 mm, combined with 9 mm StandardShield boards, are used to achieve optimal fire resistance and structural performance, thereby increasing the time available for evacuation and reducing losses of life and property
