Comfortable, robust interiors for homes, schools, offices, and more

It is essential that the homes we live in, the schools where we educate our children, and the offices where we work are safe, comfortable spaces. High footfall, regular cleaning, and simple everyday use can take their toll on the walls around us, so it’s important that the building materials you choose are durable.

Our internal wall solutions are designed to create spaces that feel calmer, more comfortable and more productive, combining excellent acoustic performance with lasting reliability. For demanding environments, we also offer gypsum wall systems engineered for durability in wet areas such as swimming pools. Completing the solution, our acoustic insulation delivers strong thermal performance, a high sound absorption coefficient to enhance the wall’s overall acoustic efficiency, and Euroclass A1 non-combustibility in accordance with EN 13501-1 — bringing together comfort, safety and performance in one integrated system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Insulation on its own does not have a sound reduction value. It improves the acoustic performance of a system but sound reduction is measured for a complete building element such as a partition wall, floor or ceiling. Any quoted sound reduction performance relates to a tested construction build-up including the insulation together with other components such as boards, studs or joists, linings and fixings.

Knauf Acoustic solutions not only improve the auditory experience but also contribute to a building’s overall performance by enhancing ambient comfort levels. This can lead to increased productivity and wellbeing for occupants, and meet standards required in various sectors.

Sound absorption controls sound reflections within a room, while sound attenuation controls sound transmission between rooms through a continuous suspended ceiling.

Sound absorption is measured using the sound absorption coefficient alpha (α). This value ranges from 0 (no absorption, total reflection) to 1.00 (total absorption).
