Engineered specifically to combat complex noise challenges, the Knauf KW115 is a highly specialized twin-frame drywall partition designed to minimize low-frequency sound transmission. Featuring a double layer of Knauf Gypsum Boards on both sides of an unbraced dual metal stud framework, it delivers exceptional acoustic privacy and structural decoupling for critical environments such as cinemas, mechanical plant rooms, and recording studios.
It is designed to divide spaces where premium soundproofing is the primary objective. Unlike braced systems, the twin stud frames in the KW115 are built without rigid structural ties. Instead, the internal stud flanges are positioned to abut one another, with a specialized acoustic sealing tape applied continuously between the meeting faces. This innovative damping mechanism breaks the path of vibrational energy, drastically reducing the transmission of difficult, low-frequency rumble while maintaining the decoupling necessary for high-frequency sound isolation. The resulting internal cavity also accommodates building services and acoustic mineral wool insulation.
Fire Resistance Range: Up to 120 minutes
Acoustic Performance Range: Up to 63dB
Height Range: Up to 8.0m (dependent on stud profile and spacing)
System Thickness Range: 160mm – 377.6mm
