Our sustainability strategy

For A Better World expresses our commitment: putting people first, aiming for carbon neutrality, supporting the circular economy, and building sustainably.

At Knauf Insulation, sustainability is part of our DNA. We design our products and practices to continuously reduce our environmental impact. In fact, a recent study demonstrated that our mineral wool insulation reduces operational carbon emissions from buildings by 3.6 million tonnes annually — equivalent to removing 2.5 million cars from the road.

But for us, sustainability is not a final destination; it is a journey of continuous improvement. From the workshop to the boardroom, everyone contributes to this success, which we measure each year through four long-term strategic objectives.

15% reduction in the embodied carbon of our products (compared to 2019).

Sustainability fund representing 10% of general investment expenditures for projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions or landfill waste.

Reducing the environmental footprint of the entire organization beyond embodied carbon.

Reduction of the environmental footprint by at least 25%.

Supporting a circular economy



Doing more with less by reducing, reusing, and recycling. And helping our customers do the same.

Sustainable Development Goals

How we support the UN's Sustainable Development Goals

The goal of our sustainability strategy is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations. The SDGs are described by the UN as "the world's best plan to build a better world for people and our planet by 2030."

Knauf Insulation is also a signatory of the UN Global Compact, which is a public commitment to operate in alignment with the UN's SDGs, to ensure that sustainability is at the core of our DNA, and to report annually to the UN on the company's progress.
