Insulation Grant Programme Expanded to Keep More Kiwi Homes Warm

More New Zealand homeowners will soon be eligible for funding to support warmer, more energy efficient homes, with the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA) announcing an expansion of the Warmer Kiwi Homes (WKH) programme.

Through the WKH programme, funding of up to 90% of ceiling and underfloor insulation costs is already available to homeowners in low-income areas, improving access to insulation and enabling improved energy efficiency, comfort and living conditions for homes. The expansion of the programme will see new grants of 50% of insulation costs made available to homeowners located in middle-income areas, making the programme available to an additional 300,000 New Zealand homes.

With New Zealand shivering through another chilly winter, high-quality insulation is essential for keeping homes warmer and reducing the reliance on artificial heating. EECA estimates that a sufficiently insulated home can save up to $340 on electricity bills each year, reducing strain on the household budget while also improving living conditions and occupant health.
