FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board is designed to deliver a robust, moisture resistant substrate for wet, humid and exposed environments. It provides a stable, durable base for finishes and forms part of tested Knauf systems you can confidently specify.

Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Outdoor is light, thin and quick to install. The board can still handle high impact with a specific stud configuration, and as it is thinner than bricks and blocks the property can benefit from a greater internal footprint and/or utilise the space saved to incorporate additional insulation. A pallet of Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Outdoor, can provide greater external wall coverage than a pallet of bricks or blocks, which on larger projects can reduce the number of vehicles required to transport the products to site. The boards can also occupy less space on site, where they are easy and safe to move around, with the ability to be scored and snapped on the scaffolding, away from heavy machinery at ground level. You can see how reduced transportation, as well as easy, quick, and safe installation can positively impact the cost and value of a project.

Knauf AQUAPANEL Cement Board Indoor and Outdoor are non-combustible, carrying a Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification to EN 135011. However, the timed fire performance (i.e.: 30/60/120 minutes) is determined by the complete, tested system (i.e.: studs, lining buildup, fixings, insulation, etc.), not the board alone.

Yes – our CPD ‘Knauf AQUAPANEL® Outdoor: Boarded Cladding - Certainty from design’ is RIBA-accredited and counts towards your professional development. Contact us to find out more.

Each board weighs approximately 11 kg/m² (area density), making Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor lightweight for easier handling and faster installation; total sheet weight will vary by board size. Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Outdoor is also lightweight, at 16kg/m2, compared to alternative exterior cement boards, helping meet performance and compliance requirements without adding unnecessary façade weight.

Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor and Outdoor feature an inorganic, cementitious core of Portland cement and mineral aggregates, reinforced with two layers of coated glass fibre mesh on both the front and back surfaces. This fibre-mesh reinforcement enhances strength, dimensional stability and moisture resistance, making Knauf AQUAPANEL® suitable for wet-area interiors and exterior façades.
