System solutions

Specification can be complex, particularly for high-rise buildings. Our system solutions help to simplify the specification process.

The OutRwall® fire-rated exterior wall system is a lightweight alternative to masonry construction in buildings that are built close to the boundary. Available in 1 hour or 1.5 hour fire-rating configurations of up to FRL 90/90/90 the OutRwall® can be pre-fabricated and installed from one side if access to adjacent property is restricted.

FireCLAD is a fire-rated industrial exterior wall system for portal-framed industrial buildings like warehouses and factories. Developed in conjunction with BlueScope Steel, the FireCLAD system provides a lightweight alternative to precast concrete or masonry fire-rated external walls in new and existing buildings. It utilises Knauf Firestop plasterboard linings attached to the building portal frame underneath Colorbond® steel cladding. It’s designed in such a way to provide fire resistance levels of 60, 90, and 120 minutes from the external side.

Firestop plasterboard is a high-performance solution engineered to meet stringent fire resistance requirements. Capable of achieving a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of up to 120/120/120 when installed within compliant building systems, it provides fire containment and structural stability under fire conditions, making it ideal for critical safety applications.

Thermal and acoustic performance

Good thermal and acoustic performance are essential for maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.

Knauf Insulation’s solutions for walls deliver thermal performance in full and partial-fill masonry cavities, timber frames, and steelframes. Our mineral wool insulation is flexible, allowing it to adapt to minor imperfections in the substrate and fully fill the space. This helps to reduce air gaps and maximise thermal performance.

Mineral wool is also the most effective insulant for reducing sound transmission and reverberation, resulting in a more peaceful indoor environment.

For external full-fill masonry cavity walls, we also offer a glass mineral blowing wool insulation, which is injected directly into the cavity through pre-drilled holes.
