Knauf employees receive recognition for 10,000 hours of voluntary service

Special thanks for their voluntary commitment were given to around 40 employees of Knauf Group, the world's leading manufacturer of building materials and building systems. Jan Ellringmann, Head of the Gypsum EMEA business unit (Europe, Middle East, Africa) at Knauf, thanked employees who are socially committed in their free time at the company headquarters in Iphofen (Germany): in the hospice, in the fire department, as a coach or a treasurer for the local sports club. A donation from Knauf of more than 10,000 euros goes directly to the various projects close to the heart of the employees.

If you count the commitment of the 40 participants of the event alone, around 10,000 hours are worked per year. This commitment takes place in the sports club, in the children's hospice, in the dog squadron or in the city library, and in many places around Knauf's locations in Germany.

Jan Ellringman emphasized at the event: "Menschlichkeit, or humanity, is a central value of our actions. Menschlichkeit shapes our attitude: to put people at the center, to stand up for each other and to take responsibility beyond one's own environment. Our employees give their time, attention and strength to others. Often quietly, but always with a lasting effect."

At its more than 300 locations, Knauf employees are involved in many regions of the world and in a wide variety of social projects. Social commitment is firmly anchored in the strategy of the family business. Corporate responsibility includes making a wide range of contributions to the societies around the world of which Knauf is a part.

At the Iphofen site, the volunteers personally presented their projects during the action week on the "Marketplace of Volunteering", and a digital exhibition also offers a stage for associations, social organizations and projects. Jan Ellringmann handed over donations totalling 10,000 euros on behalf of Knauf at the event, which will flow directly into the projects. The award marks the end of the days of action as part of the nationwide “Ehrentag” (Day of Honour) initiative of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
