As the world gets noisier, we have acoustic solutions to help you create comfortable spaces for people that occupy them.
We need to design with building acoustics in mind. Loss of concentration, stress, and other health issues can be impacted by high levels of noise. Whether it's insulating buildings from external noise intrusion or reducing internal noise transmission and attenuation to enhance end-user comfort, we have acoustic solutions for walls, ceilings, and floors.
Integrating the optimal sound insulation or acoustic panels without compromising other design elements can be challenging. That’s why we’ve created this expertise hub. It puts our acoustic products and resources all in one place, so you can design and build better homes, offices, schools, and hospitals.
Our comprehensive ceiling portfolio includes sustainable mineral and wood wool solutions, durable metals, and acoustically optimised wood design. With our multi-material approach, the possibilities are virtually endless.

Knauf acoustic solutions not only improve the auditory experience but also contribute to a building’s overall performance by enhancing ambient comfort levels. This can lead to increased productivity and well-being for occupants, and meet specific acoustic regulations and standards required in various sectors.
Knauf acoustic solutions significantly enhance indoor environments by reducing noise pollution and improving sound quality. This results in quieter, more serene spaces that support concentration and relaxation, whether in hospitals, schools, residential or commercial buildings. Easy to maintain, Knauf Gypsum ceiling tiles can be re-painted, cleaned and maintained without adversely affecting the acoustic or indoor climate properties. Knauf ceiling tiles are also easy to mount and de-mount, creating easy access to services.
Gypsum is not only a versatile building material but is also ideal for acoustically sensitive environments. It can absorb, reflect and diffuse sound, depending on how the tiles are perforated, allowing you to control the room's acoustics. Knauf gypsum-based acoustic ceiling tiles are proven to absorb up to 90% of the sound that hits their surface.
Sound absorption controls sound reflections within a room, while sound attenuation controls sound transmission between rooms through a continuous suspended ceiling.
Sound absorption is measured using the sound absorption coefficient alpha (α). This value ranges from 0 (no absorption, total reflection) to 1.00 (total absorption).
Reverberation time is how long it takes for sound in a room to fade away. It's measured in seconds. Essentially, it's the time it takes for a sound to become very quiet.
Two things affect reverberation time: the size of the room, and the sound absorption qualities of the materials used in its construction. Our solutions can significantly change a room's reverberation time because they cover a large surface area and offer different levels of sound absorption. Choosing the right product can help achieve the desired reverberation time for a space.
Insulation products alone will not give a specific sound reduction value, only systems or construction elements will give this value. Therefore, any sound reduction numbers quoted will be in reference to a built system, e.g. partition wall or separating floor, not a slab or roll of insulation.
