Knauf Gypsum Tanzania Limited, established in 2015, is a key player in Tanzania’s construction sector. With the state-of-the-art production facilities in Kisemvule, Mkuranga that includes a modern plasterboard production plant (manufacturing regular, moisture-resistant, and fire-resistant boards), a plasters plant (producing interior and exterior skimming, as well as jointing plasters), and a metal profiles plant (producing various ceiling and partitioning profiles).

Largest Plasterboard Plant in Sub-Saharan Africa

In 2025, Knauf commissioned the expansion of the Mkuranga II plasterboard plant, increasing production capacity from 18 million m² to 43 million m² and making it the largest plasterboard plant in Sub-Saharan Africa. Knauf products meet both Tanzanian (TZS 1193) and European (EN 520) standards, ensuring quality and competitive pricing for the local market. Beyond Tanzania, Knauf serves as a regional leader, exporting products to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia and Malawi. In addition, the Dar es Salaam-based Training Centre equips professionals with practical and theoretical knowledge of drywall construction systems, reinforcing Knauf’s commitment to capacity building and industry development.
