Insulation for Pitched Roofs

Knauf Insulation provides loft insulation for cold roofs insulated at ceiling level, and warm roofs insulated at rafter level. All our solutions deliver the thermal performance you need to meet Part L Building Regulations and achieve an energy efficient building. Our products for pitched roofs are also non-combustible, quick and easy to install, and our glass mineral wool insulation offers a lower-carbon choice than other mainstream insulants.

Thermal performance

The thermal performance of the roof is fundamental to achieving an energy efficient building.

Knauf Insulation's mineral wool is flexible, so it can fit snugly between joists. It also ‘knits’ together where two edges meet.

Our Loft Roll products will recover their thickness when unwrapped, helping to fully fill the space between joists or rafters, and offcuts can be used to fill gaps around penetrations.

This flexible quality of mineral wool helps to reduce unwanted air gaps, reducing thermal bypass and maximising thermal performance.

Fire safety and air quality

Fire safety performance and improved air quality help to protect occupant wellbeing.

Knauf Insulation’s mineral wool slabs and rolls for pitched roofs are non-combustible, with a Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification, so they will not contribute to the development of a fire should it occur.

Our insulation products also contain very low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can be harmful to human health, and were the first to be awarded the Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification. They contain no added formaldehyde and are DECLARE ‘Red List Free’, contributing to a healthier indoor environment.

Sustainability and on-site efficiency

Efficient, sustainable insulation solutions benefit installers, housebuilders, and homeowners.

Knauf Insulation’s combi-cut Loft Roll comes partially perforated, so it can be used between joists or uncut as a full-width roll, for a more efficient installation. Offcuts can be easily used to fill gaps, improving thermal performance and reducing waste.

Loft Roll products for ceiling level insulation are also compression packed, expanding to up to ten times their thickness when unwrapped. This makes for easier transportation and reduces road miles.

Our glass mineral wool insulation is made with up to 80% recycled content and manufactured with ECOSE®, our unique plant-based binder that is low-carbon. This reduces the embodied carbon of the product and the building.
