Supporting compliance for higher risk buildings and simplify your specification process.
Safety is an essential consideration for every building and regulations for high-rise developments are stricter than ever before. Approved Document B has tightened the restrictions on using combustible materials in certain build-ups and the Building Safety Act (2022) has increased scrutiny of high-risk buildings. And safety is just one of several factors in your specification. We offer a wide range of ceiling, wall, and non-combustible* insulation solutions that can contribute to fire safety, alongside thermal and acoustic performance. Our complete, tested systems are also available to help streamline your specification.
Our Knauf High-Rise Multi Occupancy design guide is your must-have tool for building safely.
Products designed to meet stringent thermal, fire safety, and acoustic performance standards.

Yes. It is possible for Rocksilk® RainScreen Slab to be used both above and below 18 metres in height, when installed in accordance with Agrement Certificate from the BBA (19/5609 Product Sheets 1 and 2) and depending on the full wall build-up.
Please start by trying our online U-value calculator. It has a 3D U-Value calculator built in, enabling you to obtain accurate U-values for rainscreen cladding systems.
Alternatively, you can email your build-up (section drawing) to our Technical Services Team at technical.uk@knaufinsulation.com.
No. DriTherm® Cavity Slabs are only certified for use up to a maximum height of 25 metres – please refer to Agrement Certificate from the BBA 95/3212 as additional requirements apply above 12 metres. To discuss potential solutions for your project, speak to our Technical Services Team.
A fully filled cavity with DriTherm® Cavity Slabs will meet the requirements of the Building Regulations 2010 Approved Document B (Part 6), so cavity barriers won't be required. DriTherm® Cavity Slabs have the highest Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification, in accordance with BS EN 13501-1: 2007. As the insulation fully fills the cavity, no cavity barriers are required. For more details, see BBA Certificate 95/3212.
The Building Safety Act (2022) defines a ‘higher-risk’ building as a building in England that is at least 18 metres in height or has at least seven storeys, and contains at least two residential units.
Our BBA accredited Knauf ThroughWall is a one-brand solution that provides the integral parts of a non-loadbearing infill exterior wall system. It is designed to meet required building performance while allowing the flexibility of external finishes to be applied, such as cladding boards and brick slips (supplied by others). ThroughWall can also be used for buildings of 18 metres and over.
Knauf ThroughWall is made up of Knauf Plasterboards, Knauf Steel Framing Solutions, Knauf Insulation OmniFit® Slab 35, Knauf Windliner and Knauf Insulation Rocksilk® RainScreen Slab.
Metal profiles are lightweight and don't warp or twist, meaning they can be installed faster than using timber stud partitions. Metal profiles, once installed, can be less susceptible to wet or dry rot, if subject to moisture.
* As set out in changes to the building regulations 2010 which bans the use of combustible materials, limiting use of materials to those achieving A1 or A2-s1,d0 on buildings in scope of the ban (as defined in regulation 7(4)).
** Based on a single, timed installation of Rocksilk® RainScreen FFCB, alongside a traditional cavity barrier.
