Solutions to help you achieve compliance and build safer, more comfortable homes.
Building Regulations affecting homes have tightened significantly in the last few years. Approved Document L has raised the standards for energy efficiency and Approved Document B has tightened the guidance on using combustible materials. Meanwhile, the Building Safety Act (2022) has increased scrutiny of high-risk buildings. There’s a clear focus on building homes that are efficient, safe, and comfortable. An increasing focus on indoor air quality has also put the health credentials of construction products under the spotlight. Whether you’re specifying a new build, renovation, or fit out, we have ceiling, wall, and insulation solutions to help you build safer, more comfortable homes.
Our Technical Services team are here to guide you through every step of the process.

A fully filled cavity with DriTherm® Cavity Slabs will meet the requirements of the Building Regulations 2010 Approved Document B (Part 6), so cavity barriers won't be required. DriTherm® Cavity Slabs have the highest Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification, in accordance with BS EN 13501-1: 2007. As the insulation fully fills the cavity, no cavity barriers are required. For more details, see BBA Certificate 95/3212.
Not only are dry screed floor panels thinner, but they are lighter. As a result, projects may require less substantial concrete or steel structures and foundations. They're also ready to go within 24 hours. Dry screed can withstand underfloor heating, floor finishes, and even foot traffic just one day after installation.
The Knauf dry screed range comprises four core products: Brio, Brio WF, Hugo, and GIFA FHB dry screed panels. Each of these is simple to install, with no pumping stations or water needed onsite. All panels can be laid fully as a floating monolithic layer, supported over solid, continuous and flat substrate, with additional acoustic and thermal layers where required. Whilst GIFA FHB can be also installed as hollow floor decking on pedestals, battens and joists. Perfect for retrofit and refurbishment projects, as well as new build, dry screed floors maximise the floor to ceiling height in any modern building.
The Knauf dry screed range is suitable for several applications in residential and commercial areas, to discuss suitability please contact Knauf Technical Services.
* As set out in changes to the building regulations 2010 which bans the use of combustible materials, limiting use of materials to those achieving A1 or A2-s1,d0 on buildings in scope of the ban (as defined in regulation 7(4)).
