Knauf Ready-Mixed Airless Finish is a highly efficient direct alternative to traditional gypsum plaster for finishing walls and ceilings.
The popularity of the spray method of plaster finish application has never been greater, giving Knauf a great opportunity to reach new customers in the drywall, plastering and decorating industry. Providing an extremely efficient alternative to traditional plastering methods, Knauf Airless Spray Finish is quicker to install and provide a higher quality finish.
Traditional finishing methods have several drawbacks: speed of application; material waste; and inconsistent finishing quality. Spray-applied finishing solutions can provide an alternative with low water and carbon impacts across the lifecycles, but also in terms of speed and efficiency for the total finishing application.
Improved Speed and Efficiency Throughout the Application Process
Covering up to an extra 250m2 per day compared with traditional plaster, whilst being less taxing on the installers, Knauf Airless Finish is a great solution to speed up the build process. There is low water usage throughout the product lifecycle, as shown in the new environmental product declaration (EPD), waste can be reduced to 1% and the packaging bag is both made from recycled content as well as recyclable.
East Village, Stratford
Airless Finish was specified as part of a full Knauf system on the award-winning housing development at East Village, Stratford, that was a centrepiece for the London Olympics. Two residential towers of 30 and 26 storeys, containing a total of 482 apartments which were constructed with the widespread adoption of modern methods of construction, such as Knauf Airless Finish. Andrew Mansfield from AT Plastering discussed the use of Airless Finish on this project, watch the video by clicking the button below.
The Knauf Learning Zones at our production facilities in Immingham and Sittingbourne in the UK and Tallaght in Ireland, offer industry leading, CITB approved training for the Knauf Airless system. One of our participants stated: "I have been interested in learning how to plaster for some time, but I was worried it would make a pre-existing shoulder injury worse: I have heard lots of horror stories about the physical pain traditional plastering techniques can cause. However, when I learned about Knauf Airless I realised this might be something I could do." - Jennifer Gardner, Course Attendee
Great Preparation Starts with Knauf's Jointing Range
Preparation is key to achieving a great finish and using Knauf jointing products make that easy. Simply prepare the joints and beads on walls and ceilings by bedding Knauf Joint tape into Knauf Joint Filler Premium or Knauf Fill & Finish and ensure they are flush with the tapered edge. Once dry you can apply the first coat of Knauf Airless Finish.
Using Knauf Airless Finish you can be reassured that we adhere to the latest legislation and guidelines for construction products.
With a complete Knauf system, all products are manufactured to strict British and European Standards and are thoroughly tested together as complete, warrantied systems. Specifying a certified system provides evidence that the required performance criteria have been met.
The Building Safety Act (2022), focusing on safety and quality of buildings, has enforced considerably more detail needed at each gateway, so tested systems and/or independently warrantied certification from full system suppliers like Knauf will be a welcome addition.
With the introduction of the 'Golden Thread' of information, it is important for every stage of the build process to have easily accessible, reliable, up to date and accurate information.
You can find the Knauf Declaration of Performance (DoP) for both UKCA and CE marking, as well as its Safety Data Dheet (SDS) in our resources section.
