Wilson and Hamer Construction extended the ground floor of a 1980s home, combining three rooms into a large kitchen and living space with underfloor heating. To improve comfort further, they insulated the separating floor using Knauf Insulation’s OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab.
“With a second child on the way, the client wanted the bedrooms to be quieter and to make the underfloor heating downstairs more efficient,” explained Patrick Hamer, Director at Wilson and Hamer Construction.
PROJECT DETAILS
OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab complies with Part E requirements for acoustic insulation, offers sound absorption equivalent to low-density rock mineral wool products, and has been awarded Quiet Mark certification. It also offers thermal performance that made it suitable for increasing the efficiency of the family’s new underfloor heating system.
Patrick added, “We were dealing with varying centres, pipes and other services so being able to use more flexible insulation made the process far simpler.”
Adding value to the project has made all the difference to the client, Patrick explained, “The family say you can’t hear people talking, using the kitchen or playing music downstairs anymore which is great. Going the extra mile with a product that was simple to install was a no-brainer.”
The family can now enjoy peace, quiet and comfort in their transformed home.
