Active and Passive Fire Protection
As the ceiling represents a significant percentage of a room's surface area, the additional passive fire protection of suspended ceilings reduces the growth rate of a fire within the overall space.
Fire Reaction and Resistance
Fire resistance in suspended ceilings is achieved with a combined tile and grid system. Protection time is dependent on the ceiling product and type of structure. Many of our ceiling solutions are tested to provide 30 to 90+ minutes of protection.
Building Regulations and Fire Reaction Classification
Regulations require that building linings, such as suspended ceilings, meet the appropriate fire reaction performance depending on the area of application. Fire reaction performance for suspended ceilings is rated using Euroclass, which is the standard classification for fire reaction performance of building materials in accordance with the European Standard EN 13501-1. Euroclass ratings range from the highest (A1) to the lowest (F), with additional indexes for smoke production and flaming droplets or particles.
