There are many factors which have led to the reduction:
- Emission reduction projects in our factories –Immingham and Sittingbourne factories have undertaken many projects over the past 4 years. Our water reduction projects also help to reduce drying time, and therefore the energy required to dry the boards.
- Improved data collection – We have worked on improving our EPD knowledge/competence, to ensure the data collection process for the LCA is as accurate as possible, working with an experienced LCA consultant.
- New EPD standards – Using the latest PCR & c-PCR standards and latest versions of background databases.
At Knauf, we have product-specific EPDs for all of our UK produced plasterboards. All of our EPDs are prepared and third-party verified in accordance with EN 15804 and ISO 14025. The EPDs show the specific environmental impact of our building materials throughout the products' lifetime and give you the best information for making an accurate and reliable LCA calculation of your construction project.
