OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab

dependable warmth and quiet for modern buildings

Creating buildings that feel warm, quiet and comfortable starts with choosing insulation that performs in the real world. OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab is engineered to deliver reliable, high-performance results across common applications — from internal partitions and separating floors to timber and steel stud walls.

OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab is a glass mineral wool slab that offers clear advantages over low‑density rock mineral wool alternatives, particularly for acoustic performance, ease of installation and overall efficiency.

Acoustic performance you can trust
Unwanted noise remains one of the biggest comfort complaints in homes, offices and education spaces. OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab is designed to tackle that challenge.  It’s Quiet Mark certification provides independent assurance of the product’s ability to reduce unwanted sound. It also complies with Approved Document E (England and Wales) for acoustic insulation performance targets.

OmniFit® Thermal & Sound Slab absorbs sound within an internal partition wall cavity. The open, interlocking fibre structure of glass mineral wool improves sound absorption, resulting in OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab controlling noise within stud walls, separating floors and internal partitions. It works by reducing reverberation inside the cavity and limiting the transfer of sound and vibration between rooms.

The result? Spaces that feel calmer, more private, and better suited to modern living.

Why glass mineral wool often outperforms low density rock mineral wool

It’s a common misconception that “higher density = better acoustics.” In practice, acoustic performance depends on the right combination of airflow resistivity, fibre structure, and system design — not just weight.

What you get with OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab is

  • Efficient sound absorption, without relying on unnecessary weight
  • Consistent thermal performance thanks to low thermal conductivity
  • A precise friction fit - The slab knits into the stud, helping minimise gaps and flanking paths
  • Easier handling and cutting, reducing waste and saving time on site
  • Easier to carry, load and move on site; the product recovers to full size when unpacked

By contrast, low‑density rock mineral wool products often need added mass to chase similar performance. That can make them heavier, harder to cut cleanly, and more difficult to install accurately — increasing the risk of gaps and resulting in performance shortfalls.

Thermal efficiency for energy‑smart buildings

Alongside its acoustic credentials, OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab provides thermal performance with a lambda value of 0.035 W/mK. Its fibre structure traps air to reduce heat transfer, helping to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures year‑round. It also supports energy efficiency targets across a wide range of build types and can contribute to lower heating and cooling demand when used within a well‑designed system.

It’s also non-combustible, with a Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification that makes it suitable for all buildings, regardless of height or use.

OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab is manufactured with ECOSE®, our unique plant‑based binder that contains no added formaldehyde and delivers low VOC emissions — supporting healthier indoor environments. Plus, glass mineral wool has among the lowest embodied carbon footprints of mainstream insulation types manufactured in the UK, supporting whole‑life carbon goals.

The smarter choice for performance and comfort

Whether you’re designing new homes, converting existing spaces, or upgrading acoustic performance, OmniFit® Thermal and Sound Slab offers a dependable, high‑performance solution. With strong acoustic credentials, reliable thermal performance, installer‑friendly handling and sustainability benefits, it delivers the comfort and quality today’s buildings.
